Unfortunately
we have to say a TEMPORARY farewell to Kathleen Carruthers our extremely
competent Treasurer. Kathleen and her husband Sandy volunteered to look
after their gorgeous little grandson. I have not met the little chap but
looking at his photographs Kathleen and
Sandy
are surely in for a
lively and extremely rewarding time. Kathleen assures us that she will be
back as often as she can but obviously cannot continue in the demanding
role of Treasurer.
Sandy
will continue to
design and print all our posters and tickets – for that we are very
grateful. Anne Davies has kindly offered to take over the role of
Treasurer for the coming year,
I
hope that you have all enjoyed the holiday. Perhaps you made some new
friends and could invite them to join us on the first and third Wednesday
of each month. All will be warmly welcomed especially if they enjoy
washing up after our afternoon cuppa! We do need some additional
volunteers for the Tea Rota this year so please don’t be shy in offering
your services.
Our
first meeting of the year is on
Wednesday
6th September 2006
when
we shall be delighted to welcome the Rev. Alistair Jessamine. A
Russian Visit is the title of his talk and hopefully members of the
Congregation who accompanied the minister to
Russia
last
year will take the opportunity to join us for the afternoon.
As
you are aware the cost of petrol keeps increasing. We
are finding that more of our visiting speakers are
requesting remuneration in excess of that we have previously
offered. Sorry about this Ladies but we shall have to ask you for a yearly
membership subscription of £5. Weekly contributions will remain at 50p
for members - coffee/tea and biscuits included. We thought you would
appreciate advance warning of this increase, as we know you try to have
the correct sum of money to assist the Treasurer with her accounts.
We
are looking forward to meeting friends old and new.
