Sunday School - September 2010

As we begin another year in Sunday School, we take a look back at our time before the summer holidays. The summer term in Sunday School was almost as busy as Christmas with lots of activities! Our Senior Sunday School have the following report for you:

LAST TERM

Parents’ Morning
After the Easter holidays, the Sunday School started practising for the Parents’ Morning. Two weeks later, the Parents’ Morning came. The Senior Sunday School did some sketches about Moses and manna. They also narrated and spoke about what the Sunday School has been up to!

We sang songs like ‘Celebrate’, ‘House Upon a Rock’ and ‘Manna’. It was very successful! The parents were satisfied with the refreshments. Mr. Paton came along and spoke to us at the end wearing his burning bush socks – they were awesome!

Picnic
On Saturday 12th June, the Sunday School held their annual picnic in The Glen. The weather was fantastic and we hope it is the same next year. We were lucky to be joined by Mrs. Paton and Rockie. Mr. Paton and Mr. Jessamine joined us later on. There were lots of fun, active games including potted sports, running races and parachute games. The Murray family won the quiz* and got a fantastic big box of Maltesers. The purple team won the potted sports with a huge amount of points, the total of their points was 278. We had eight races not including the Mums’ and Dads’ races.

Well done to all the children who won the races. Well done to Mrs. Hillis and Mr. Walker who won the Mums’ and Dads’ races!

Danielle MacKenzie and Andrew Stott

* PS: for those of you still wondering about the quiz – the American equivalent of Bob the Builder is Handy Manny!

Closing Service – Sunday 20th June
We held our Closing Service on Sunday 20th June where all the children received their prizegiving books. We were fortunate again to be able to use money from various bequests made to the Sunday School over the years to purchase our prizegiving books and hope the children enjoy reading them.

At the Service, we said goodbye to our four P7 girls as they left primary school to begin high school after the summer. The girls all received a Youth Bible which we hope they will use as they join the Youth Group and we look forward to continuing to work together.

GOING FORWARD

Coffees - Sunday 19th September
This week will be the Sunday School’s turn on the coffees between the services. As it coincides with the MacMillan ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ later that week, we will be donating all the proceeds to MacMillan Cancer Support. So come along and help us support this worthy cause!

Harvest
Our Harvest Thanksgiving Pageant of Youth Service will take place on Sunday 26th September this year. As usual, we will be collecting items of food for Frontline Fife to distribute to the homeless in our area. We would be grateful if members of the congregation could bring along to Church items such as: tinned food, dried pasta, pot noodle, teabags, coffee, soup, biscuits, crisps and cereal bars.

All Welcome
As always, we extend a warm welcome to all children aged 3 to 12 to join us in Sunday School. We begin every week in the Church at 11.00a.m. and then go over to the Halls for Bible stories and activities.

CRÈCHE

The crèche continues every Sunday during Sunday School term times and is open from 10.45a.m. in the Church Halls. We would like to extend a big thank you to the mums who continue on the rota every week – it would not be possible without you. Please note that the crèche will not be available on Sunday 26th September (family Harvest service in Church) or during the October holidays.
